There was a time when this mule track was the only connection between Bolzano/Bozen and the Val Sarentino/Sarntal Valley. Over the centuries, it became a symbol of innovation and community amid a breathtaking natural landscape. Today, an irrigation pipe running along this path still supplies water to the meadows and fields in San Genesio/Jenesien.
The Marterloch adventure trail tells the fascinating story of this historic route along its original paths, with 21 interactive stations along the way. Highlight: 272 metres of the trail stretch across South Tyrol’s highest and longest suspension bridge, some 130 metres above the ground - with a dramatic gorge beneath your feet.
